Help! Need an Oxygen sensor part number.

Post by NZHall »

For my 1990 JDM N/A Legacy

Chassis (vin) number BFA-008316
Engine Number EJ20 DDW1BE

I know you guys didn't get this model in the U.S. but I thought someone might have access to parts catalogs with Japanese model part numbers.

There is confusion at my New Zealand dealership whether the part number is 22690-AA-090 or 22690-AA-150

(wish I knew what the actual differences between the 2 are)

what year was your car manufactured. If it was made on or after 7/89 you will use the 22690-AA-150 sensor.

Josh,
Thanks for your feedback. Quick couple of questions, how do I determine from the my chassis (vin) numbers etc. what month and year the car was manufactured (as I understand the JDM model years precede the US models by at least 6 months), and how have you determined the part number has the 150 suffix?

If you look in the door sill of the driver's door there will be a plate that has the manufacture date on it. I'm not sure if there's a way to determine manufacture date from the vin. There probably is, but I don't know it off the top of my head.

The fact that the JDM models precede the US models really doesn't matter too much. I have a 1990 MY legacy. it was built in japan, and it's manufacture date was 7/89.

I know about the part numbers because I went through the same process in figuring out which sensor to get for my car. Since it was manufactured later, it required the 150 part #. Plus those two part #'s match the US part #'s for O2 sensors for those specific build months.

You can determine the year from the VIN, but not the month. The 10th digit in your VIN will be L, M, N, P, or R for 90, 91, 92, 93, or 94, respectively.

Your production date should be in the door sill like Josh said.

Thanks guys, as usual you both come through with the facts. I'll check it out.

OK, I've had a look in both the left and right front door sills and.. errr...no plate! :(
Is it hidden under the plastic kick guard thingy, perhaps?
Josh, I'm assuming you mean the sills on the car body and not under the actual doors themselves, right?

Yeah the sills.

I'll try and take a picture of mine so you can see where it's at. if you have an owner's manual for it. You may want to look through it. I believe it shows where the plates are. If the manual is in japanese it may be a little more difficult, but I believe it was a picture of where the plate is....

Maybe the info would be on a plate near one of the strut towers under the hood?

Hmmm, Josh, you don't have the plate on the strut tower??

That plate contains the VIN, and the engine chassis, trim, option, and color codes.

It does NOT contain the production date, however.
