How to get more torque??
Hi People, just has a question to look for help.
Just ride on a 93 Legacy turbo with 2.2L engine. after ride on it and it reflash my memory of the old and torquely 2.2L SOHC engine.
I have a EJ20G but the troque has to comes out after 4200rpm.
I wants more low end troque as like the 2.2L SOHC are there any way could make the EJ20G power of torque comes out eariler?
Ben

Is there anyway you could type more coherently? I'm having trouble interpreting what you're saying.

Yes, Ben, you can have more torque. But it's going to be quite expensive.
Please remind us what modifications you have on the car. Do you have an equal length header installed? These do tend to move your powerband to the higher rev range.
Have you installed a programmable ECU in your car yet? This, i think, is your next big step. Then you can maximize your fuel and timing curves to increase your torque.

Well,
Let me ask if you have a VF-10 or a VF-8? The bigger VF-8 will spool later and could be part of the problem. Solution? A boost controller if you don't have one...

Thanks for your info guys.
Here is the info on my current engine setting...
I have an JDM Legacy RS engine that is EJ20G with VF-10 turbo. The engine is stock but using the EJ22T ECU. I also running the AVC-R boost controller.... still playing on it eventhough It installed for alomst 3 years..., Turbo back 3" exhaust with 1 cat. K&N filter, Walbor fuel pump, HKS BOV, Ver.2 intercooler.
My car pulls very good over 4000rpm but in RallyCross it will be too late for boost compair to the EJ22T engine....
Will an SAFC or AFR fuel controller do help or a programable ECU will do the good on the engine even its an JDM???
I am missing my EJ22T engine while in rallyX.....
Please ,Keep input or if there are anyone has the data of the AVC-R, pleaes post it out and let me try the setting to see how the car runs....

While the ECU may be hurting you a bit, what you really need is a bigger turbo. The loss in displacement is probably the biggest source of your torque loss. And really the only way to make it up is more power over all. There are a couple of guys here with Vf-8's who have considered selling them. PM Naphappy and LegacyMax and see if either of them will sell their. THat turbo is a direct bolt in replacement for you...

matt, thanks for your suggestion , I will look for that.
Professor..... I using stock 15" all the time.... I think it will be the smallest I can use.... also its hard to find good 14" tires.
Anyway, thanks all your input but if you have any other thinking or idea... post it out.
Thanks
Ben
