A theory came in my mind, while I was driving around in Imprezas before I got my Liberty, I drove an NA 2.0 Litre , and NA 1.8 & 1.6 litres they had way less power than 2.0 Litre... Possible because of the size & power & compression differences... On 2.0 Impreza has 9.7:1 Compression & peak power is 88kw. Liberty NA 2.2 is 9.5:1 peak power is 98kw. Therefor in my mind, if I had EJ20 Heads on EJ22 engine, Its possibility would have 104-108kw instead of 98kw.
It came to my mind is that 2.0 Litre Heads DO bolt on 2.2 Litre, that way I could have 9.7 or something Compression for increased power??
Is there an SOHC EJ20 correct?
Or I am wasting my time?
PLEASE don't tell me go for turbo.
Cheers

AP,
I can help you on this. The SOHC Ej20 heads you are talking about are identical to your Ej22E heads. The difference in compression ratio comes from the piston dish and not any difference in combustion chambers. You would be right where you started if you switched those heads.
But, there is a company here in the states called Delta Cams. They run $165 USD and are ground on your cores. They will net you about 15hp (sorry I don't speak KW). A pretty good bang for the buck. If you don't want to pay shipping both ways, I have a set of cores that I could sell you and send to Delta on your behalf. I would want $50 USD for them, and then you could work out the payment and shipping details with Delta...
