Got Knock? Get Torco!

Post by douglas vincent »

I put a can of Torco octane booster in my tank. I am now running 10 psi, non intercooled, NA ECU. The only upgrade is the larger 370 cc injectors.

No knock. And I did 4 full drag runs. It was awesome to look down at the boost gauge and see it straight up on 10!

Way to go! Sounds like you had a great time. How well did your engine fare in all this?

Are there any issues about running race gas in a 22t?

I ran 104 and 110 in my last SS and it seemed to run uber perfect at the track. I had about 1/8 of a tank of premium when I added race gas. The stuff was like $4.50 a gallon so I only bought $30 worth. Just wondering if there's any reason not to do it in my new SS.

Richard - If you run race gas, kiss your cats goodbye. Cat's hate lead.

The worst I've done is 100 octane Unleaded, and the car seemed to drive a little better. I just felt like I was getting a little more timing advance, which was cool and evident in responsiveness.

I was launching at about 4500ish.

I would rev up on the first light to get the SC to kick on, then dump the clutch on the 3rd amber. I was getting .03 reactions average as well. And dumping is a relative term.

The race gas I ran was unleaded. I know better. But is there any harm in running high octane unleaded? The car seemed to run reeeeally smooth at idle.
