Glasspak? What will she sound like?

Post by livestrong14 »

Hey, I am planning on getting a summit racing 3" glasspak to fit onto a 3" downpipe back exhaust. I was wondering what this beast would soundlike? it is $22. I plan on getting a borla 2.2 L header from rallitek and a invidia downpipe with highflow cat on it. I will probably skip the center section cat. and just go with the one on the downpipe. Is this the way to go? What to glasspaks sound like anyway? All input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Livestrong.

I've got a 2.5" downpipe with 2.5" pipe back to a glasspack. I used to have a fart can on it before I switched to the glasspack. It sounds similar, but more "growl" than "rice", as it dosen't echo as much.

All I know is I had a 2.5" glass pack for less than 24 hours. WAY TOO LOUD. If you are looking for excessive dirty looks and attention from cops, go for it. Otherwise just get a decent loud muffler.

I have 2.5" back from the header, with cat, with a generic muffler. When I had the glasspack installed, it just way way too loud. It may have been the exhaust system itself that contributed to the exessive noise.

Turbos quiet things down alot in exhuast systems. I would imagine running a glasspack on an N/A to be comparable to running straight pipe from the downpipe back on a Turbo.

I ran just a glasspack on the end of my Catless exhaust...

Was LOUD!!!

It sounded awesome, but 4 hour freeway trips with no radio got really annoying!

So...I ended up using it as a resonator in the midpipe and bought a stainless muffler/axleback from -k-

I like my Stromung.

2.5" catless turbo-back. Sounds sweet. The volume is completely dependant on how much i am in the throttle. just cruising, it is nice and civil, but go WOT and...... It's just awesome.

I have a HKS 3" DP to 2.5" hi-flow cat to 2.5" glasspack, mine sounds great and not too loud.
