I talked with a friend today that has 2.5 sohc heads on his ej22t and he said when he was doing his build he looked at wrx heads and maybe changing the cam gear from the wrx to the phase I for timing purposes. But he said he thinks the roller pins or w/e were in the wrong place to fit on the wrx head as far as he could remember.
So I guess I'm back to welding timing marks on the cam gear...unless i want to put the phase II cam gear in a lade or however you spell it and try to modify it to fit, which I don't really. My question is, how do i go about welding timing marks on the wrx cam gear? I would imagine i would need to measure the ones on a ej22t cam gear and mark them on the wrx one, then weld them correct?
I think Kelley (Rallitek) did some welding of cam marks.
Reddevil, Awaiting new heart, will it ever happen?

yup. take a caliper, and measure the distance between the teeth. Mark it, grind the finish off the cam gear so your weld sticks better. Its pretty straight foreward.
I think your wirefeed should work just fine. I doubt they would use a high carbon or chromoly steel for the timimg gear, where you would need to preheat.
