legacy noob-question/things to look at when buying a bc5

Post by mgardenier »

I am going to look at a 1993 subaru legacy sport sedan (bc5) on sunday, and since i currently own a my98 obs, im not sure what to look for as problem areas on a car like the legacy. I know what to look for as far as suspension wear and tear, and signs of major body work/accident repair. But in not so sure as to what to look for as far as engine maintaince/problems that would be associated with the turbo. If there are any members out there that would like to help me gather a few specific things to look at when i go to inspect this car, that would be very helpful. Hopefully that car is as mint as i think it is (and hope). Thanks in advance. oh and i will be able to put the car on a lift to inspect the underbody or anythign else that you could think of so there are no areas that i cant inspect.

Synchros tend to go in this tranny. If it upshifts and downshifts into each gear easily... then your fine. But I guess that would be me assuming it is a manual. If it is an automatic that opens a whole other can of worms.

So then what year is it and what tranny?
