New rims...again

Post by Suzie-Q »

hey everyone! long time no talk. sorry...been busy with school and army and stuff... anyway, i took back my first set of new rims (the Amp R-Fives) cuz they ended up getting completely shredded on the outer edge from 2 hours of freeway driving!!! my fender guard on the right rear got ripped off and was hanging off. i had my stock rims put back on for about a week, and then i got a new set of rims that are even better! i got a set of specially ordered 17" panthers with 215/35 proxes 4 and they fit perfectly!! now all i have to do is drop my car with some h&r's. what do you guys think?

Still no go. I think you need to upload the pics to a site like imageshack or photobucket..then it'll be guaranteed to work.

Through the magic that is me being up all night to learn steel design, I have stumbled across this thread, e-stalked you to find the picture, and hosted it on imageshack. I think the problem is that yahoo won't let you direct link to the pictures.

I'd like to see a picture of the whole car with them:

old ones:

35-series tires? Ouch. You could have gone with 45s with a 17" wheel and 215s, provided the size exists.

The neat thing about imageshack is that it will automatically make a thumbnail and give you the code to insert it into a forum. Plus the shell uploader a fried of mine made, which allows you to upload multiple pictures at once from windows explorer. If you sign up, it will even save all your uploaded photos for you, which is nice as I tend to lose the link for a lot of picture I upload.

see what I mean by thumbnails/e-stalking?

I am very glad that you are happy with your wheel/tire choice.

I wouldn't have touched those with a 10 foot pole, but if you like them, that's all that matters.

Yup- 215/45/17 would have been better- keeps more tire on the rim.
Yes I have too many Subarus

I like the new rims better than the old. Little less 'blingy' but still has a touch.

New ones look better than the old ones. Still wouldn't be my choice, but judging by the chrome wheel well strips we have different tastes.

Ah, don't let them dishearten you. I still want to see pictures of the whole car.

i agree, pics of the whole side would show a better view of the rim to wheel well relationship. lowering would be good, but none of that 4 inches you were talking about a while back

yeah...the 4" thing was a bit naive on my part :???: i was definitely not being realistic. i am lowering my car with h&r's after x-mas when i get $. the reason i got 35's is because i'm dropping it, and i wanted to make sure there was clearance so i didn't shred my tires like last time. even though the offset is correct, i didn't want to take any chances. i'll post side shots when i drop it.

thanks for getting it to work for me jamal! by the way, that picture of my tattoo is crappy...it was taken with my cell phone

thats why I floss only wheels of steel. I can drive over most everything, and if i do bend one, i can just replace it with one of my 8 spares.

Yeah I'm glad I have another set of identical wheels with new tires. That rash is going to hurt the resale value, though.

The five-spoke gen1 Forester alloy wheels are dished such that it would
take a very determined effort to ding or scrape the rim.

The original 6-spoke turbo rims not only protruded, but seemed to have a
strange magnetic attraction for curbs

Subtle, do you have any pics of your wheels? Are they the flat-face 5-spokes? Those are the ones I have. I was going to get them powdercoated, but ended up liking the looks enough stock.

OEM alloys are usually pretty damn tough. Does anyone have 16" steels?

It will take a few days to post some pics.

Maybe some before washing and some after.
