Brake Questions Galore

Post by simbey1982 »

Hey yall,

First off thanks for checking out me post have a 92' SS and all that

1. Rotors need replaced as they are wobbling and shuddering bad. i have noticed that the adjustment piston ( you know the thing that adjusts with break pad wear to keep it close and even) is frozen and that isnt helping....can i buy that at a parts store and replace?? is there a way to unfreeze it??

2. I was wondering if anyone knows if EBC sells their "REDSTUFF" pads for T-Leg...i want to pick some up for the legacy and for the T-Leg brakes im swapping in my impreza.

Thanks

Well, you could try taking off/replacing the dust boots and greasing them up. I noticed that the boot on my slide pin on the front was cracked, and the pad wear was a bit uneven, so I'm going to see if it helps. Subaru sells a seal kit for about $20 which includes the boots.

I *think* it's the "overhaul kit" listed at 1stsubaruparts and subarugenuineparts under

"mechanical->brakes->hydraulic system->front brakes->"

The part that sucks is that you have to order the kit to get the boots. I need only the slide pins and the boots for my rear brake swap. The kit comes with caliper seals and stuff, too.

EBC sucks.

One of my calipers was fucked up, so I simply did a WRX upgrade. It was great. I definately recomend it.

Use Hawk pads. EBC sucks, unfortunately.
