My plans for a JDM 2.0 Turbo!
I happen to have a jdm 2.0 liter turbo motor. it is DOHC and air/water intercooled. I plan to have this installed and buttoned up by this spring. How much hp do you guys think it is? I was told around 260. Thanks!

The motor you speak of, with the Air Water Intercooler is the EJ20G which came in the Legacy RS in Japan and New Zealand, and the Liberty RS in Aussie.
The motor is 200hp stock, but has quite a bit of potential as it is Closed Deck, DOHC, and comes with a pretty damn good turbo right out of the box.
On another note, I am interested in your old EJ22T if you want to sell it.

If it was out of a manual car, it has a little more than 200hp, if it was out of an auto it has a less hp and a smaller and less "pretty damn good" turbo.
no matter what(well unless someone put a AWIC on an Sti motor) it doesent have around 260 in stock form.

It has a black box looking intercooler. Would a 2003 wrx air only intercooler be a good upgrade? What is a good way to have it at around 250-270 horsepower that is cheap and easy to find? Should I upgrade to a STi turbocharger?

the WRX Air to Air will work, but involves a lot of fitment. I run the Air Water on mine, which is what you have, and it is adequate for the kind of power you are shooting for. My Legacy is probably around 270hp when it is all dialed in and running 15psi, and my AWIC never, ever heatsoaks. What was done one mine is the airconditioning was completely removed, and the coolant tank was moved to where the A/C compressor was, and then the waterlines from the AWIC were run through a pump to the A/C condensor, which does a splendid job of cooling the water down. I can get you the name of the pump also if you are interested...just can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. Basically, running the AWIC would be the most cost effective/easy method of intercooling your car. That is, unless you canm get a WRX TMIC for free or like $20.
You can pull 250hp out of your stock turbo. It is the IHI VF8, which is what I just bolted on my car, and it should be able to pump out a good 15-16 psi, which should yield you at least 250 on an EJ20G.

Bigger turbo/exhaust/standalone etc, not hard. although you might want to keep it stock till you learn how to handle what power it has now, especially if you plan on keeping your license b4 you graduate. trust me i made that misake and ive been paying for it, literally my insurance is insanely high. i did it with a To3/T4h powered protege that ran a 12.27 1/4 when i was 18. believe me it was impossible to not speed everywhere and lay down a hurtin on some mustangs and trans ams etc. believe me ive matured alot since then . save yer money and stay off the streets if you do choose to race. also try local SCCA events (solo2, rallycross) u will get hooked, stay legal, and be alot safer

thats what eventually helped to get me off the street. it also made me understand that power is nothing if the car out performs the driver. i tryed a gung ho approach and learned alot. i would plow into the corners understeering like crazy. it made me realize how horrible a driver i was and that i didnt have as much control over the car as i thought. i swapped to a smaller turbo and started with a more manageable power level (190whp on GT25R vs 320whp on t3/t4). now ive dedicated the car to full on SM car. i also co-competed in the $2005 GRM challenge last year with me and a friends turbo 90 miata. legal motorsports is my life now haha
