i have been looking foreward to a winter full of parking lot fun with my 94ss but i only was lucky enough to enjoy one weekend of sideways bliss before i blew my motor. i would like to keep the car and replace the motor, but i know very little of what this involves. the most appealing option is to buy one of the jdm motors on ebay like this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-E ... enameZWDVW
or this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-E ... enameZWDVW
i will be able to afford this project in a couple of months and i know people who can help me do it, i am just posting the message to find out how easy it is and how reputable these wholesalers are. if there are any problems to expect i would like to find out now and not when i am a grand into the project. thanks!

Good vendor, but a twin turbo won't fit in a LHD car. You want to shop for the single turbo equivalent...

My Uncle (NZ Rally Engine Builder) said that the EJ20H, EJ20K (Twin Turbo) motors have a HUGE flat spot between the turbos, and that is the reason he converts them to single turbo...

yeah, they are sequential right? that flat spot is common on sequential setups with more than stock boost... would probably plumb it as a parallel twin though

The problem supposedly lies with the location of the brake booster and the steering rack. But cut away if you think it will work.sammydafish wrote:yeah... I'm gonna do the twin turbo one day.... I'll make it fit... nothing you cant do with a torch and a welder
As has been mentioned, there are also some performance issues with the TT engines. Just head over to any of the UK or AUS boards and start searching. They call it the valley of death. 2 is not always better than one...

Why just buy a motor when you can get a motor/trans/ecu/wiring harness for the same price? I guess it would depend a lot on location too as these are $$$ to ship. Are there any years that work better adapting to a 90 Legacy?
