What to do for an NA to get up to 220hp ~ wrx?

The Ej25/Ej22e hybrid is the easiest way to get close to your power goals. Using the Ej25 bottom end both increases your displcamement and gives you a nice healthy bump in compression. That coupled with a set of Delta cams, and all the usual bolt ons (header back exhaust and intake) you should be seeing right around 200-205hp at the crank.
If you got your heads ported and a good valve job, it might net you another 10-15hp. I am currently doing some R&D type stuff with the guy who did my Ej25 heads to see just how much gain we can make in airflow on the Ej22 heads. Contrary to popular internet myth, the heads don't flow like crap to start with, and we feel that there are very possibly significant flow gains.
Beyond that, without having some sort of engine management to bump your redline, you are kind of done with what you can get. I think maybe, with a 7000rpm redline, you could even hit 230-240chp...
