TDO4 and IHI hard coolant lines do not swap.

Ok, well, this is a continuation of the bottom of THIS thread.

Basically, I was took a hard coolant line from a wrx TDO4, and was going to swap it onto my vf8. That officially doesn't work. Not only is the oil return pipe in the way, but the banjo bolt holes on the side of the turbo do not line up at all with the holes in the hard line.

So much for that idea. It looks like I'd need to get the hard line for some other IHI turbo to fit. I think I'm just going to use the hard line from my vf11. I don't really have another choice at this point.

I don't know about the oil return line being in the way, but if you cut the thin strip of metal between where the banjo bolts go, you can get them to line up.

yeah, it will fit. all the lines are made the same way for the wrx/legacy/liberty. the lower line to date only has one fitiment issue and thats with the vf39 but thats easily solved by a hammer

Wait, so the thin metal strip between the bolt holes doesn't connect the two? I didn't look that closely at it, but I thought it might be open between the two. I guess it is rather thin, huh?

That's good to know. If I could cut that piece of metal then I could make it fit no problem. The holes are just too close together to fit the vf8.

I figured my vf11 lines would fit, because I saw 555BCTurbo's pictures with the vf11 hard lines on it.

Cut that strip and your good to go.

Would have had to do that on my 16g if I didn't have the OEM Subaru lines.

So I cut the metal piece on the TD04 hardline. I then tried to put the lines on the vf8 I have. The bottom line will not work. It makes it around the oil line just fine, but it sits a little too low and would interfere with the bracket that bolts to the uppipe and the block of the engine.

The upper line that turns and faces the front of the engine also will bolt on now. The problem with that one is it T's right into the corner of the plastic elbow of the intake side of the turbo (remember the TD04 has a straight inlet rather than the 90 degree one). Instead of trying to bend the hardline to get it just right, I opted to just put on my hard lines from my vf11. I'm sure a vice and a little working will get the hardline to move to where you need it to be. It would just need a little work, but I don't have a vice available to me right now.
