They collect nice cars dont they? And doesnt that 22b have a broken tranny or it did or something?

Is it at a dealer ship or something? I want to stop by to see it.

In other news: got my cams installed and all the new seals installed in the heads. Any suggestions for getting the old head gasket material off? Will a brass brush for a drill score the surfaces too much.

I also installed my whiteline front diff support bushings and the rear diff mount bushings that I got from Turn in Concepts Hopefully hae pictures this weekend.

When i saw the 22b it was at the dealership and i think it belongs to them.

You can use a credit card to remove the old gasket material.

bmx, did you have your heads cleaned, and the valve seats reground, and the valves cleaned and magnafluxed? Cause if you didnt, you should. Exspecially if you are going through all this work.

:( I wasw going to, the thing is. I have completely run out of money. no joke, I got a $25 mail order for selling a wrx blow off valve, so now I have $25..... TO my name. and I have to put my car back together to drive to albequerque Thursday the 13th. I get paid friday, but I wont have enough money to do the heads and pay for gas down and back. I am pretty much hoping that they just last. i wanted to so d*amn bad. It didnt help that a couple people on nasioc comitted to buying parts from me, then never sent me the money. so instead of having $200 I got the $25.

ADVICE: If you have a car as a hobby/transportation and live on your own, do not work at a bike shop!!!

This hobby sucks

The reason some part have 22b stamped in them is simple if you know subaru parts. subaru made the 2.2 and the 2.2T at the same time. to designate a turbo part from a n/a part of the same application, they use a "b" designation at the end. thats where the car name comes from.

22B = 2.2 Turbo

if there was a part number i would go to my work and order the hole set up if new.

the way i see it is there 2.0l heads from the 90s, everywhere but north america had the 2.0l turbo motor in there subarus, we got the ej22t with out the crazy heads for what ever reason. + the 22b is like a 95 to 99 model that came out with the gc body style. i dont no about all this ver1 ver2 ver3 stuff i go bye motor codes and part numbers.

someone HAS to now on this board what heads, valves, springs, head gasket, that motor uses. part numbers would be perfect for me.

whos got the parts manul book on this car?

22B heads are no different than '98 Ej20K V4 STI heads. The USDM DOHC EJ25 heads are based upon the '97-98 Ej20K STANDARD WRX heads. The STI heads are cast with larger ports, and use solid lifters (versus shim under bucket) along with sodium filled exhaust valves.

The '91 Ej20G heads that you have acquired do have larger ports than standard '98 WRX heads, and they are also larger than the usdm Ej25 DOHC heads (which would make sense). They are also larger than current USDM EJ205 heads. But they are nowhere near as large as the v4 STi ports. I have seen and measured them in person. They have HUGE ports...

sorry bout the wait for a reply, turns out if you eat 3 packs of wet cigarettes you go to the hospital. j/k I took a GL-10 hood latch to the head and had to get 5 stapels in my head, but enough about me....

Thank you matt!
I knew somebody had the info i wanted.
I am gunna send my 91 ej20jdm heads out. need to search on what are the biggest valves i can get. (or mr. monson might know)

but i am sad so say i am really in no hurry to get this done now, I have been having brake problems lately ( the abs was fully ingageing and making the brakes be on all the time) and after replaceing the abs unit FOR THE SECOND TIME today( btw our abs {AA200}unit goes threw 95) i was backing my wagon into the yard having the e-brake as my only brake and a olddy high idol i scraped the rear driver side on the dumpseter! Man I felt DUMB. but there is no dent just a scratch..., i wanted to paint it anyway.

but thank you again matt (and nico for getting on my wagon)
