it has a cd player in it but thats been in their for a while. i got a set of speakers and i put the 2 rear ones in and got the noise. havent done the front yet. i used the wiring that was already there. i drove around with them in and they sounded great. then i started getting that noise. it's not there all the time though. but it goes away as soon as i turn the motor off.

its possible that the engine whine you hear was not noticable before due to the limited frequency range of a factory bi-cone speaker. At any rate, the culprate is definately a poor ground on the cd player. you'll have to take it out and check the connection. respond if you need any more help with removing the radio and how to check for the ground. Also a side note, this post should technically be in the "body chassis and interior" section.

I think due to the electrical issues with the radio, this forum is fine. This is probably one of those posts that could go in either.

Is the CD player of good quality? Did you use an aftermarket wiring harness to install the new deck or was it done by a shop? (hopefully they would have used a harness and crimp caps.

Are you running any amps? Is there anything else attached to your stereo system?

Chances are you are getting alternator whine. Usually caused by bad ground or your main power wire connected to a poor, unisolated circuit. I know this is a PITA but remove your deck and move the ground. If this yeilds no results try running a wire from the battery to the ground wire on your deck. Also try grounding the deck itself by connecting a ground wire to the ISO screw on the side of your unit.

Also try and keep the speaker wire as short as possible from the speaker itself to the factory speaker wires. The wire that comes with aftermarket speakers is usually junk and should either be used in small quantities or not used at all.

Please keep us updated.

rca and the remote(that's the blue one) can touch stuff as long as the insulation isn't pealed back anywhere.

What were you saying Mike? I can't hear you....

Run the power (including the remote turn-on wire) down one side of the vehicle....and the audio cables (RCA) down the other side of the vehicle. This will keep most noise out of your system. Make sure your amp is properly grounded to the chasis.

when i ran my wires, i ran the RCA and the Remote on one side and the main power on the other side and i don't get any noise. but i guess running all the power lines away from the signal lines would be better.

Why would you have RCA cables and a remote turn on wire if you don't have an amp? Are they there for looks? Do you have some sort of mobile video set-up?

We can't help unless you give us all the details.

the wires are CONNECTED to the cd player. well i'm sure not gonna cut the wires off just because i have no amp.

go to the store and look at a cd player. look at the wires. their are rca and amp turn on wires that come out of the back with the power, ground, speaker wires. it is possible to use a cd player and not use these wires. MINE ARE NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING.

I see what you are saying.

People don't usually mention those wires unless they are connected to an amp.

When you buy a head unit with RCA leads, they usually come with little plastic caps that cover the RCA jacks. Are they still on yours? If the jacks come in contact with metal they could cause some nasty feedback. It would make sense as how most head units have only one pair of RCA outputs which double as the subwoofer and rear speaker amplifier connection. You could run your entire system off one set of outputs but I wouldn't reccomend it.
