Front speaker replacement

Post by Gus S »

Hello,

I have a 92 L wagon with a blown front speaker

What would be a good, reasonably priced replacement for both front speakers?

Also what size are they?

Are you looking for aftermarket? Or a set of OEM's from junkyard or such.

all depends on if you are an audiophile or not ;)

Anything aftermarket will most likely need spacers. I have stock 90 LS BF front speakers (two way) if youd like.

Actually I'm just looking for something decent.

ciper, I'm interested - those are plug and play for the facelifted models right?

please email me at gus@catalysismusic.com

Gus, most likely they are the same as the ones you have. Im not sure if Subaru used two different types of speaker. They have the raised face.

They sound very close in quality to the 3 ways I replaced them with, so for OEM Id say they are great. Rear speakers are another story.

Not true. (no offence) I do see the "most likely there" but FYI Pioneer and MB Qaurt are very shallow speakers, and SHOULD fit, just to name a few. If you want anything with some midbase then yes you will need a spacer of some sort. But like always I must have my disclaimer that I "may" be wrong. :D

P.S. not trying to get anyone upset.

They would have to be VERY shallow, Like 1 and 3/8 inch.

TS-A1667 Mounting Depth: 2-1/4 Wont fit
TS-A1661 Mounting Depth: 1-3/4 Might fit
TS-G1647 Mounting Depth: 1-5/8" Might fit (doubt it)
TS-G1617 Mounting Depth: 1-5/8" Might fit (doubt it)

The TS-A1661 is the only decent speaker out of the group, you wouldnt want the lower models. Even then I think its TOO THICK.

Speakers

Post by petridish38 »

I got some speakers from best buy...some pioneer 3-ways and best buy installed them (it was free installation for speakers $99 and over) so i said why the heck not!? All 4 speakers are 6.5 inches and they did need a spacer for the front... It was $12 for the spacers and i barely had enough cash to pay for it since they told me i needed them after they started the installation.

WRX woofer tweeter combo... in my 93 wagon?

Post by mgjs1 »

Would these work? I guess tweeters are separated out in the WRX, and if that is not the case in the Legacy 93, I guess it is not gonna work... but thought I would check.

here's a blast from the past.. I never ended up getting ciper's speakers as his email address stopped working.

Anybody have a set of OEM's or a set of aftermarkets with spacers?

thanks
