I have no idea how accurate this is.
Im assuming its at least good enough for an order of magnitude[/url]

probably 100% accurate. Air is an ideal gas, so it's change in temperature in regards to compression can be very accurately calculated. The key is knowing the efficiency of the compressor, which for most stock turbos and even many aftermarket ones, is entirely unknown. This though can also easily be determined with a test rig, I'm really not sure why manufacturers and distributors of turbo's don't do this. They seem to like the concept of 'black math' when it comes to turbos, since the only way you'll know how it will really work is to guess.

well, technically it's a real gas, but the ideal gas law can be applied with very accurate results

that's because it's so negligible that it's not even a concern. Air gains almost no heat energy as a result of the turbo's proximity to the exhaust, the air moves to quickly and the turbo doesn't have enough surface area to make a measurable difference. This is a common misconception among people. It’s often thought that turbos need intercoolers because they are run off the exhaust. They need intercoolers because the air is compressed and gains heat energy in this manner. Since superchargers (roots types at least) generally don’t have intercoolers, people think it’s a problem only turbo have. The reality is that superchargers need an intercooler just as much as a turbo does. Even more so at high boost levels as roots type superchargers tend to only be efficient at PRs less than 2.Splinter wrote:The calculator doesnt account for the heat of the turbo produced by the exhaust gasses, this is why I dont think its accurate.

Adiabatically speaking, dafish is daRight
I've bookmarked it as it beats the hell out of doing it by hand.

Yeah....I wouldn't say it's 100% accurate, but it should be close enough for us.
Nice find though. I'll definitely be playing with that page
