I have a small PC that has a 200watt power supply. Does it pull 200 watts all the time or is that what it maxes out at?

Please don't move this as it does pertain to my vehicle. I am trying to figure out what the smallest inverter I can get away with is. It will only power the PC. I sold my big inverter and am regreting it.

Thanks vrg3. (We all know he has the answer)

It maxes out at 200 watts. It'll draw just enough power from the 120 VAC rail to produce the power your computer is drawing.

The catch, though, is that this power supply is only like 60% efficient. So if your computer draws 100 watts, for example, you'll need an inverter that can handle like 175 watts.

Before I switched to a DC-DC powersupply, I powered mine from a 400W walmart inverter I paid $43 CAD for

It even survived cranking.
