Hello all,
I Have been building up my SS to boost properly. Have a WRX IC. Using a Stock WRX BOV recirculating. Boost gauge. Fuel Cut defeater. The only thing im wating for is the boost controller. Here is my issue though.
85% of the time its boosts fine. in about the 5 psi range .34hKpa
Then at random intervals i will get 15psi or 1.08hKpa in every gear 1st through 5th.
What could be wrong. My only thought is the wastegate is sticking. Is there a way to oil or grease the joints?? Anything else it might be?

The boost solenoid could be sticking closed and causing your problem. I'm pretty sure that it would through a code if that happened though, but maybe not. You might want to disconnect the actuator and just move the wastegate by hand, see if it binds up. I've seen cases where the little arm on an internal gate would get bent and bind up.
If your solenoid is bad you could just run a MBC until you get a new one.

I have an extra factory boost soleniod if you want to try it out.
If you think it might be the wastegate sticking, just run a line straight from your intake manifold to the wastegate actuator. If it is still randomly over boosting its probly not the solenoid.

Have you tried running the hose directly from compressor to wastegate...taking the boost control solenoid out of the loop? Try that and see if you have any problems. You can sometimes isolate the wastegate being a problem that way. I did at least.
