finally got a motor
I have been saving for a motor since i blew my ej22t about a month ago and i have finally found a suitable replacement, my friend located an ej20t that has been stroked to a 2.2 and has sti pistons and injectors, it is fully balanced come with a 2.5 intake manifold, i havent seen it but from what i have heard so far it is a ridiculous motor, it also comes with an exedy lw flywheel and top mount intercooler. i was able to get it for a grand due to a miscommunication between my friend and the shop that built it, the engine was supposed to go for about three grand. the guy who build it claimed it should be good for around 250hp witht he stock ecu i had on my previous motor, and with a good exhaust and fuel management i should be able to reach 300 plus, i dont know a whole lot about subie motors, but from what i have learned so far i know this has alot of potential, what advice do you guys have for putting this beast into my car and what problems should i expect?

this is a jdm ej20t without the egr system on it, from what i understand this motor was built for rally racing around maine, i got it for so cheap because the place that built it misinformed my friend who bought it and they needed some svx parts he had, so he had their balls in a vice grip and wound up with a well built motor for about two grand less than its worth, the guy who built it said it shoube be capible of 300 plus hp with a decent fuel management system, what are some reputable companies that make them an where do i find them?

There is no technically no such thing as an EJ20T, which is why people are asking for more details. Do you know what year or model the engine came off of? Which heads is it using? Does the intake manifold have an inline or an offset bolt pattern. Ej25 manifold with no EGR suggests to me that it is a '99 or newer WRX engine...

ok, i got more info ont he motor, it is out of a 96 wrx and the heads and intake manifold are out of a newer 2.5, the crank, and injectors are out of a new sti, the rods are ver 4 sti forged rods, and it is stroked to 2.2, balanced to .1 of a gram and guaranteed to turn 8000rpm with a chip, it is going into my car on wednesday, when i get a new sticker i am having my friends at bruns brothers stainless fabrication make me a 3" stainless turboback exhaust for an ounce of dank, so im guessin it it should be pretty nutty. now doyou have enough info to reccomend a fuel management?

Well,
How is it set up for ignition? Is it coil on plug or was it converted to wasted spark igntion. A '96 would be COP and a later Ej25 would be wasted spark (and probably the reason for the manifold change). What does it have for a wiring harness?
You should be able to install your intake manifold harness and get the car to run as is on your stock ECU. But if you want to get the full potential out of that motor, you will need a good piggyback or standalone ECU...
