Your favorite F&F quotes

Post by Legacy777 »

F&F & 2F2F was on USA last night. It's just so funny to watch those movies and know that what they're saying is absolute hogwash. 2F2F wasn't as bad...it had sort of a different non-technical jargon type of plot.

I didn't watch all of F&F last night, but here's two of the more memorable quotes I remember:

"Hector ordered 3 spoon engines.....and a motec system exhaust"
"I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time"

feel free to add on.

From Here

1. Double-clutching on upshifts isn't "granny shifting" - it's really bad and hurts your clutch.
2. "Nos" isn't a performance product, it's a company (Nitrous Oxide Systems) that produces performance Nitrous Oxide products. Call it 'spray', 'nitrous', 'giggle gas' or "N20", just don't called it 'Nohsss' . Oh, and nitrous is perfectly OK for amateurs; with a properly tuned WOT (wide open throttle) actuated system, just floor it and keep it pointed straight. A "100-shot" of nitrous isn't likely to blow the welds on your intake manifold either, unless it's a rusty 1977 Datsun 120Y manifold.
3. Making a 2JZ-engined Supra (as great as they are) do 10-sec quarter-miles would cost a lot more than US$15 grand, especially if you're "overnighting parts from Japan".
4. Spending 10 large on a stand-alone fuel management system is a crap way to spend 10 large, given they can be had for around AU$1000-AU$3000. Or, and don't they require a laptop sitting on the passenger seat to flash stupid messages like "Danger to Manifold" while you're doing 180km/h. I've yet to find an ECU that display a lovely animated 3D graph of your fuel and ignition mapping to gawk at too.
5. Extreme lean-out caused by judicious overuse of nitrous is a million times more likely to destroy your entire engine than cause your passenger-side floorplan to fall out. Provided of course you actually screwed the thing down in the first place.
6. AIC controllers aren't drool-worthy performance parts; it stands for Automatic Idle Control (so AIC, not AIC Controller, or you've got the whole ATM Machine thing going on) and most fuel injected cars have them standard to help the engine warm up quickly by increasing idle RPM.
7. The effectiveness of a rollcage to protect you in a rollover is greatly reduced when you don't wear your seatbelt.
8. Vin Diesel might have big arm muscles and be incapable of pronouncing "chassis" properly, but he can't outrun a police car on foot. Sorry girls...
9. MoTeC don't make exhaust systems.
10. A win might be regardless if it is by an inch or a mile, but winning by a mile is certainly preferable if you really want to brag. Of course, to win a quarter-mile drag race by a mile requires you competitor to charge off in reverse at 3 times your speed...

Go ahead and lock the thread Josh...Splinter just killed it. LOL!

I think all of us were watching F&F and laughing at it.

Thanks to the fast and the furious I was able to keep my floorboards.

"its got a NOS fogger system Dominic......it has direct-port nitrous injection...."

Wouldn't that be pretty stupid to have two different nitrous systems in a car?

"Amaters don't use nitrous oxide." I tend to think more amaters use nitrous because its cheap and easy. True enthusiasts go for real-world horsepower from all motor or forced induction.

"Mushimoto ZX tires" Do these even exist?

You can't have Moshimoto ZX tires unless you have a neon green glow coming from under your chassis.

I was watching some F&F last night too. Worst detective work ever.
One of the least realistic parts was when the Ferrari owner raced them. The floorpan ejection was also great.
