Amuzing little nugget

Post by Legacy777 »

I just think this is a little amusing.....a buddy of mine told me this girl in his Capoeira class has a 96 legacy and it wasn't passing inspection. I told him, give her my number and I'll take a quick look.

Turns out the reason it wasn't passing inspection because the ebrake button wouldn't stay out. You had to pull it up and down a few times to get it to pop out. Well I didn't know that when I talked to her on the phone.

She came over this afternoon. I sprayed some penetrating oil in there and works fine. We also seafoamed the engine....because she had gotten a cat efficiency code.

I just find it completely retarded that something that stupid and easy to fix would cause the car to not pass inspection.

Oh well. She asked me if she owed me money for today. I was like no....all I did was spray penetrating oil in the button. I couldn't charge for seafoaming because hey....I got to make a smokey cloud

That's the end of the story....sort of lame....but I just can't get over some mechanics.....they really need more stringent tests for mechanics.....seems like anyone that can buy tools can be one.

I was debating whether to post that....but figured I'd let someone ask ;)

She was alright. Wasn't drop dead gorgeous, but definitely wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating cookies. From the vegitarian book in her car and her telling me she went to visit a quaker type place in PA makes me think she's sort of hippyish...but that's not a biggy.

dunno about Texas, but in some states, the inspector is not allowed to fix the car (usually if it's a state run facility) Other places repairs must be done separately of the inspection. Even they could have fixed it in only a few mins, it could have also taken much longer. The brake light could have been something wrong with the brake system and not as simple as the ebrake switch, and the Cat efficiency code might still come back and it might need O2 sensors or other work or diagnostics. When you're running a shop that's busy, you can't spend 10 mins dicking around to see if you can help someone out. They need to make an appointment and be prepared if the car needs repairs. Doesn't mean the technician couldn't have helped her out, just means he was doing his job.

That being said, I've had quite a lot of trouble hiring competent people. Still, give someone the benefit of the doubt. Automotive repair is a tough business to be in. Cars are complicated and sometimes expensive to fix but everyone wants to be a cheap skate and they all think you're screwing them.

When I took the scooby in for inspection, they were going to fail me on account of a burnt out side-marker

The inspector decided to do me a favour by installing one for me.

I find that stuff ridiculous. Most cars dont even have side markers, but if you have them, they HAVE to work!

I've just noticed that it slows down a bit in the winter. The summer months are more active because people are out and working on their cars more I think. And let me ask why your putting the board down, thats like a dog shitting in his bed.
