That would be the one. I went to look at it the other night. It appears to be in 'above average' condition, but not 'excellent'. I think I might go haggel with the guy a bit just for fun.

Some things I noticed: Cheap foglights in the front bumper, boost gauge, skuff mark on the front bumper. I haven't driven it yet, so I don't know everything for sure. I'll report back as mor info becomes avaliable.

Since that is the one, it's unlikely that it will ever be a "good" deal, price-wise, that is. If the dealer paid a little over $3500 for the car, shipping cost around $1000 (unless dealers get a "wholesale" shipping cost), then he would have put some money into to fixing the rust spots, then he'd want his profit (at least $750 to $1000 but usually more). The dealer has a lot invested in that little bc. (It sure looks good though!!!)

But it may be a very solid car and if it fits someone's needs just about perfectly, it may be an acceptable deal to them.

It does not surprise me, after following this board a few years. They have the car looking so good, I just about want it back. I'd still like to see it up close to see how the rust was handled, especially at the bottom of the right door and both front fenders where they meet the bumper at the wheelwell. I would really appreciate hearing back from someone if they see it and drive it. If my buyer took care of the hesitation and flooding, then somebody's going to have a lot of fun with it. It really ran well when things were right with it. By the looks of the pictures, someone is undoing my partial ground mod. Those cheap fog lights work pretty well, in my opinion, and actually look good when they are on. They are $50 Blazers from K-mart that never got put on my Gran Prix. They are sure better than the factory fogs on the Pontiac, my Mustang, or my Chrysler. I already miss the snow performance since we got blanketed here on Thursday night. My PT Cruiser GT with 4 Blizzaks wouldn't even follow it up my driveway. Thank God my Autostick lets me start out in 2nd or 3rd gear.

Update: I went there today with a friend. We talked to the guy and he took us for a test drive. First off, it was 30+ degrees outside, he let the car warm for approx. 25 seconds then proceeded to run the car into the ground at 6k rpms down the street with it bucking wildly. This was the first thing I pointed out. Previous to him taking us for a ride we popped the hood to find out where the turbo cover went. It wasn't there. We also noticed that he took the boost gauge line out of the intake manifold and it was hanging down drawing vacuum. Second, he took all the grounding points of Dave's simple grounding mod off and they we also hanging in the engine. Third, it smoked blue on start up and idle.

Funny note, there were a pair of blue handled plyers sitting on between the radiator and AC condenser.

They also painted over the rust. My friend also tapped around where the rust was to find BONDO. Nothing wrong with it, but it was clear that they had just put it over the top and done nothing to correct the rust issue. The rust was visible on the edges of the fender well and above the front windscreen.

Finally, I had checked NADA dealer value. It said something like $4,600ish. I told him that's what it's worth from a dealer minus the problems I pointed out. He asked me to make an offer and I said given the current condition of the car, $3,500 was a reasonable starting price. He then told me, "Thanks", and walked away. The model of customer service perfection.

I have been missing those channel locks for a long time. By the time I noticed them, they were too rusty to bother with. Thanks for the report. Sounds a lot like the car I sold.

After High PSI's post I was never notified of subsequent posts. Tonight I was going through cars that were for sale and came across this thread again.

J-Money and Dave G, your posts made me chuckle. But they also made me shake my head in disbelief over how salespeople will describe a car or do cosmetic touch-ups to it and make it seem like absolutely nothing is wrong with a car when in truth it can be quite far from reality.
