I need Subaru Nerds

Post by J-MoNeY »

I have never taken the time to learn the chassis codes for the whole Subaru line. I need the common terms or what have you (IE:BC-BF Legacy) for the Baja, Forester, Impreza(2.5,WRX, STI, L, Outback Sport Wagon).

Anyone have a link or two to school me up?

Wait a SEC!!! Think I found something.

GC8 Chassis code for Old School Impreza Coupe/Sedan (97-01?)
GDA Chassis code for New Age WRX Sedan (02-05)
GDB Chassis code for New Age STi Sedan (04-05?)
GF8 Chassis code for Old School Impreza Wagon (Like 95ish)
GGA Chassis code for New Age WRX Wagon (The new shitty head lights or 04ish?)
GGB Chassis code for New Age STi Wagon (Doesn't exist?)

Now somone put some years on these SOBS!

The 8 in GC8 is wrong. GC8 is specifically the code for a GC with a 2.0.

2 is the 1.8, 4 is the 2.2, 6 is the 2.2 or 2.5, depending on year. Same goes for BC/BF/BJ.

There are a few things not right about that I think. Like the lack of a BJ, and the vin/model codes depend on year. Like, a BC6 is the vin code on my car, but a BE6 is a 2.5. I'm assuming it changed in 96.

I'm driving nothing. I wish I had a fucking car. My bike is in Colorado, I'm in Arizona. Nothing says I love my life then walking to class in the hot sun.

I'll post pics of the bike and the whole feasco when it's down to me.

Do the new 06's have a new code, or can I use the ones in the link you posted?

One addition. The old skool Impreza coupes are GM's...

And '95-99 Legacy sedan is BD and wagon is BG. I don't know the newer ones. I don't care about anything that new...

The 95-99 LEGACY wagons are BK because they're regular roofs, and the 95-99 OUTBACKS are BG's because they're raised roofs. The same thing with most of our "BF" Legacies actually being BJ's...

You want chassis codes? I got chassis codes...

Anything A is EA series. I'm working on learning their codes using the Subaru literature at my new job. AC is EA82 sedan, AN is EA82 wagon, AX is XT, there's more, but those are the only ones I'm sure of. CX's are SVX's, and BT's are Bajas...
