More newbie stuff

Post by Sport Coupe Erik »

Hey gang, I was a lurker a long while ago on the Legacy tab on Iclub. Anyways, my roomate picked up a Nitro-Yellow-Green neon sport coupe, with front end damage, clanking single cam engine, and a slushomatic trans. Theres enough frame tweaking that we're not afraid to cut it up. His plan is to butcher the firewall, modify the K-frame, and drop in a 2.2/2.5/??? Subaru boxer engine, manual transaxle, and rear end. Not an issue, he's a designer, I'm a welder/fabricator. We want a complete parts car to rob parts from, preferable wrecked. Four wheel indepent/McPhearson strut would be the best. A guy at my work has an 89 Loyale wagon non turbo, 5 speed, tons of miles, but everything works great, he's looking for a few hundred bucks for it. That should be the 1.8 liter, is the bell housing compatible with the later 2.2/2.5s? Or should we just keep looking for a 90+Legacy/Impreza donar car?

Side note: I'm still looking for a 91-94 Sport Sedan/Touring Wagon. Been two years now, still looking. lol

Thanks in advance.

Ask in the old gen forum on the USMB http://www.ultimatesubaru.net/forum

They should be able to tell you if the bell housings are compatible, or what needs to be done to make them work.

They are not readily compatible. But between a designer and a fabricator, i'm sure you guys could make it work.

scottzg: Total that I have purchased or the ones I kept

Ive purchased 7 I think. The gl-10 will most likely go to my friend who has just realized how fun subaru's can be. He said "This is way better than any civic" after he raced a 5.4 liter standard cab short bed f-150 and won.
