CV Joint, What size socket???
Well I found out what happened to my car and why I've been getting the clicking sound.

This was courtesy of my rally cross and 60 miles worth of dirt roads that were pretty rough at times. Lost one of my corner lights courtesy of the roughness and looks like a CV joint too.

For pictures of the road, the drive, and the blown cv. Also notice my sway bar endlinks are kind of screwed up too.

Get new axles from www.cvaxles.com. They're probably the best axle builders in the country... read my review in the Reviews forum...

I've owned two 87 gl's since I was 16. I lost count on how many axles I did. I think I can swap an axle in about 20 minutes. With the lifetime replacement garuntee that the parts store gave me I made out ok.

Come out to Colorado and change mine for me. The hard part for me is finding the time to do it. I work two jobs and am a senior in college (Mathematics) so don't have really any spare time. Thankfully there is a holiday this weekend and I have Monday off. Good timing huh.

Is it? I've always used 1 1/4" without stripping anything...

Actually the 32mm kept slipping of. I ended up having to go to Autozone and get a 1 1/4" driver and some PB Blaster and it worked much better. Still took quite a bit of jumping on the wrench to break it loose. Other than that the change went really well. Everything came apart pretty easily. Took me about 2.5 hrs. including my run to Autozone and a few wrong steps. Next time I think it should take me about 30-40 minutes now that I know the best way to go about it. The first time always takes so much longer I've always found. Thanks everybody for all the help.

Did you use a torque wrench to put that 1-1/4 in nut back on? If not go get it tightened to spec. Once i thought I could guess it in my gl-10. A year later I spent close to 500 bucks paying for another wheel bearing and a new hub along with a labor for a guy to get it all done right.
It wasn't the outside nut that was loose, but an internal nut in the hub, but still, if I had a torque wrench it would have saved me a lot of grief.
