Electric waterpumps?

Whats the scoop on these for our cars?

A guy I know with a 91 wagon just had his water pump die, and mine might be on the way out, and I was told electric is a pretty good option (easier to fix in the future, better cooling at high loads)

For an engine water pump? I say replace it with a stock mechanical

I don't really see how you could use an electric one on these cars since the timing belt interfaces with it.

Electric h20 pumps are for the Chevy fags who want to "get the most power out of their motor" at the dragstrip. The way I see it, if you are running an incredibly inefficient 30 bagillion Cubic inch engine anyway, why not use 2 hp to run a waterpump?!?!?!?

Yeah, to me it's more a matter of serviceability for custom instals where water pump access is limited at best and another lame-o bragging point. 'Dude, yeah, I gut the 'lectric water pump. Shit frees up, like, 15 horsepower, at least.'
