Why do you want a turbo timer?

Okay, WHACK, you just got hit with the search stick :). Seriously though, if you're thinking about doing a swap you should definately do some reading/searching. It's not that hard and it's in the realm of doable but lots to learn, to which you have come to the right place. Check out the library and the search button, they will become your friends.

Search better. There are threads involving this.

For parts? Just run down what the turbo setup NEEDS and what you don't have.

A turbo timer isn't a stock device, and you'd run into the same scenarios with or without one.

lol funny. i watched it too. haha. but yea i did a swap and it wasnt too hard. there are write-ups on here cuz i used em when i was doin my swap. you'll have to find a lot of things to make it work tho.

turbo front crossmember
new exhaust (headers/downpipe if it didnt come with the motor alrdy)
turbo sensors (map/pressure sensor/some other one dont remember)
dont forget the motor! need that too

all in all best thing to do would be to get a donor car. you would have everything there readily available. took me forever to piece things one by one and finally get the car running. search. the swap isnt that hard. as long as u got the motivation and friends to keep up with it you should be fine.

Definitely get a parts car. You need the engine, ECU, MAP sensor, intake tubing, etc. You should get the radiator and upper expansion tank either. A turbo timer just runs your engine for a set time after you remove the key to help cool the turbo. Unnecessary with the oil and coolant cooled turbos in the Legacy.

There's a free turbo car on the side of the road if you read the parts forum.

right, well try learning what does what and why. this has been gone over and over again. saying something about a turbotimer that doesnt make sense sounds just as bad as guys asking about how to put an sr20 into a honduh

What are we Christians or Muslims arguing about BS?! You're Sunni and must die! You're Shia and must die!, etc. repeat for thousands of years until something finally evolves to replace the outdated Homo Sapien. If you don't want to answer the question, don't. If a dude doesn't search and no one responds, what will that force him to do again? Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and all his merry men, where is the love, people?

jenkins,
You got to understand the boards can be rough, really rough if you ask for it! It took me eating wet cigaretts and going to the hospitol to get some help  . Most of the brains here have learned what they know by building or searching for days. So they don't just "give it up".

And 'bout every month you get the token "noob" asking to be told the perfet set up so there legacy can take there buddies audi. All of your questions have been answered before (perhps many times)but,...

if you have a N/A car that means it doesn't have a turbo. If you want a turbo get a different engine A FACTORY TURBO EJ22. unlike the N/A block the factory turbo block is closed deck and take some serious boost.

That's enough Jason & Jenkins!! Any more and this thread gets deleted.

There are quite a bit of threads out there. I just did this swap on my legacy this past summer. You can go either route, just turbo, or do an entire motor swap. Each has their own issues.

Please try and search a little more, and if you have specific questions, please ask.

Josh - I seem to remember Hardy saying it'll fit in 91-on NA Legacies.

jenkins6586 - If you're very unfamiliar with turbochargers, I would suggest you pick up a book on the subject and learn. Titles to consider include Turbochargers by Hugh MacInness and Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. Keep in mind that they're not gospel, but it'll help you get orientated in the world of turbos.

Hmmm....I don't see why the taller radiator would fit in the 91 and newer MY's if the n/a radiator didn't change in size between the 90 MY and 91-94 MY's???

Unless there's some more changes in the crossmember.....

Didn't the 91 Legacy Turbo have a Turbo Radiator? I know the one in my driveway does. How is that different than the N/A?

I really don't know, so it's just speculation.

Also note, In STOCK form the car requires only a brief idle cool-down for the turbo, and the rest of the cooling will be done through gravity syphon.

If your cooling system is modified, like mine, the gravity syphon no longer works, and the car must be manually cooled post-abuse.
