4EAT issues or TPS?

Post by tasq »

So lately my car has been acting funny while I am at about 10% throttle.
Crusing speeds vary but throttle position seems consistant.

The " Power Mode " light comes on when it isn't supposed to, and the car down shifts like I just floored it.

Sound like my tranny is slipping? Bad TPS? Any input appreiated :)

Could be a TPS problem... Can you run my scantool to see what the ECU sees coming from the sensor? Failing that, test it with a voltmeter?

I will have to see if my ibm t40 still has a parellel port...It is off for repair right now. I wouldn't know what to do with a multimeter

How much is a new TPS anyway? What is the install difficulty?

It's not expensive when you have a spare throttle body. I'm sure matt monson probably has some and I have two extras. A new one is probably relatively pricey

Installing a TPS is a little time-consuming because you have to get its position just right. You're better off swapping in a known-good used throttle body.
