My car is dying...
So yesterday my car decided to start quitting on me. When it's cold and you try to give it a little gas (and I mean a little), it just shuts off. It seems like whenever it trys to spool maybe. The car doesn't sputter or anything, it just turns off. The first time it happend it took me a few minutes to get the car started again. Since then it tried to die twice, but I took my foot off the gas and the car just lost all power (engine not elec.) but didn't turn off. Then it died on me again a few minutes ago, but started right up. Anyone know what's going on?

Unfortunately I live in the south and Subarus are very few and far between, so finding one in a junkyard is unrealistic.subawhatsubawho wrote:I would start with that first and go from there. You could hit up your local JY and get all the above mentioned and see if any of them are the culprit.

Hm.
There are some situations in which the ECU will cut fuel whenever you try to go on boost... Like when the pressure sensing equipment or the boost control equipment isn't working right. Is the Check Engine light on?
If not, does it come on after the engine stalls? It should, unless the bulb is burnt out.

I don't think he's getting a chance to get to boost; he's saying right off idle, a light touch of the gas will result in stumbling and dying. I need more than a light touch of the gas at idle to begin spooling my turbo, let alone to build up boost.
And yeah, FL has like no Scoobies in any junkyards I've been to. I think I've seen one n/a Legacy wagon in a yard. I was very surprised to find it.
It would definately be important to confirm that your "Check Engine" bulb is not burnt out; at the very least it should light up when you turn the key to ON before starting the car.
Maybe there should be a "Check Engine Bulb Out" light too.

Check for a lose hose or hole somewhere in your intake. If you are getting air into the engine post MAF, then you ECU freaks.
Reddevil, Awaiting new heart, will it ever happen?

But the car hasn't stalled since I fixed it and the CEL has not come back on.
I checked the hoses, I didn't notice anything loose or cracked. There looks to be an oil leak around the turbo/up-pipe connections area though as it's covered in sludge.
