Don't get us UK drivers started on speed cameras...
The funny thing is that legally speaking over here it's true that the drivers could still take part in the events, but the co-drivers would have to drive between the stages.
Also for people like Colin and Richard who live in the UK, they wouldn't be able to drive at all OTHER than on special stages on closed roads!
I'd put money on the court letting them all off with a fine and no ban.

That's pretty funny. England is looking at requiring a computer inside every vehicle that notates when you are speeding and links to a main computer that then sends you out a ticket. Who needs a camera when your driving in the cop. It would work via satellite and GPS coordinates. The privacy and watchdog folk here in the US are having a heyday with it. Invasion of privacy kind of things. I'd just stick to buying 92 Subaru Legacies myself.

Yeah heard about that. I hear Oregan is looking into that because they want to tax people based on how much gas they use. I dont know if it will fly but they are talking about it. It will be more used for amount of driving than speed I think.
Outskirts of Sacramento California has some speed cameras, I think. I've heard of people getting tickets on highway 50, but I don't know if it is true.

what is the f@#kin world coming to.....
There is a reason natural selection works in the animal kingdom.......it get's rid of stupid animals that think of stuff like this.
But in humans, we make stuff to protect those idiots and encourage them to breed and spawn even stupider babies........

Right, they do currently, but Oregan gets it's taxes for paying for the roads through the sales of gas. Well, the worry is that with fuel cell and electric cars they'll lose that. So, the idea is to use gps and satallites to tax people on how far they drive and charge them by mile. I doubt it will ever go through, but a buddy of mine from Oregan was telling me about it.Uh... isn't that what the taxes on gasoline sales are for?

Yeah, you know what's funny is how people from Oregon hate having the state name pronounced that way, it's supposed to sound like "Oregan" sorta how georryan spelled it.
Anyways, that article just shows how ridiculous authorities can be. Those cars are nowhere near street-legal (can you imagine getting passed on a 2 lane road by a car with an anti-lag system?
). And the fact that they were on a road by themselves with full-out race vehicles for a major event that brings tons of econonomy to the area makes it like a "closed course" in a sense. The fact that they would pursue it is beyond me. Have the WRC threaten to preclude that event from the schedule and see how quickly they drop the charges. So did they get license plates? Driver license numbers? The only reason they could figure out who the drivers were is because they were in factory-prepped cars for an international event. If I went flying by in MY legacy with no plates... would they know who I was? Doubt it.

This is the kind of thing that drove us to kick the British out
. Anyway, you all should read my book when it finally gets published. The focus is on three characters in a cult that believes humans are de-evolving since the weak are protected and allowed to breed unchecked (and most prolifically). Hence the Evolution Movement.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

I agree. The more well to do people have less children. Those in the lower income/knowledge bracket have more children. People with disability and disease are allowed to have children as well.
Basically we will get to a point that everyone needs some sort of supplimentation from technology. Heck, look at all the people who need some sort of vision correction. It has become so commonplace no one even cares. Wait until the day that organ replacement becomes standard procedure!
