I just resealed her oil pump yesterday, new O-ring and RTV sealant (that's what the Sooby mechanic told me to use). I was having a slight valve tap only at idle, went away above 1500rpm; I also found out the old O-ring was leaking really bad, and I knew my left cam seal was leaking, so I took care of all that.
So I start her up this morning, and everything sound A-Okay... until it drops below 1500rpm...
Still tapping!!!
This really pisses me off, because 1) this car only has 149k miles and 2) I've never left oil in that engine for longer than 4k miles.
I dunno how the fuck you guys' cars get away with 10k oil changes for 200k miles and don't have a problem; I guess I'm just not that lucky.
I'm going to try to avoid any more SIA Subarus from now on.
Guess I better start pricing out 16 new HLA's...
