help...

Post by The Scooby »

cant decide... i have a 92 SS, automatic tranny, nice leather interior, white exterior.

i just bought a 91 SS 5sp. ok interior grey in color, and black exterior that is decent. it needs a rear window since it was busted out, a new glove box, plus the radio was hard wired in and is just sitting in the whole. also there is no 5th gear... dunno if true or no havent driven it yet

my 92 has 189K, the 91 has 219K. i got the 91 fot the 5sp to put into my 92 since i HATE driving an automatic... so impersonal.

anyways, what do you guys think... keep the 91 and fix it up or try to swap in the manual over a 2day weekend since it is my daily driver.

body style doesn't bother me, i like both, milage is what does bother me... what would you guys do?

Why would you put a broken 5-speed into your daily driver?

That'd make it unreliable.

Keep both.

I have a similar dilemma, which car to fix etc.
I just fixed both, so now I have a backup car, to my backup.

keep both, use your daily driver as is, and fix the other one.

I would find out if 5th gear works, if not, then no point in the swap if there is no 5th. I can get a rear window cheap, a used glove box and I can fix the radio.

So at this point, which would you prefer. The difference mileage wise between them is negligable: 30,000 miles.
Yes I have too many Subarus
No you can't have one

I'd take the LSD like you were saying and be done with it. You will hate having a 5-speed that doesn't actually have 5 speeds.

I really like both, and I'd assume that at some point, even though you've claimed to be neutral, you'd prefer to rock a preface, or a postface, whatever suits the moment.
Also, since its a black 91 turbo, its an experimental, rare, rare car. Sell it GT8 for 15 grand or so. Remember, they only made 15 of those.
