Still working on shipping out my rear window and wiper from Japan, but I picked this up on ebay for as much as it was going to cost me in Japan.

Is the right mirror convex? Is the left mirror's convexity suitable for the left seating position?

Can the mirror glass itself be swapped for US-spec glass?

My brother just put those on his 92 SS (folding mirrors), and no, they aren't convexed right. You have to have the driver's side one turned in as far as it can, and the passenger side as far out as it can go to be angled right to see the right spots behind the car. Also, when you look at them you get a feeling that something isn't completely right. Although you can see fine, your eyes just feel a little funny. It all has to do with the fact that you should be looking at the driver's side one from further away, and the passenger side one from a closer position. They are pretty cool, though, and you can just deal with it and make t work.

um ouuc..the uhhh....brain malfunction....high school geometry coming back to bite me in the ass...ouch!!!

valid questions though. From the mirrors i've seen, you could pop the glass out and probably change them. if not then you could trim them to fit.

Hmm... I don't think I could do what your brother's doing, Ryan... I need my mirrors to be intuitive.

But if the glass can be changed like corsair says... then, man, I should dig up the JDM mirrors I've been sitting on for years. I'm eager to hear more, dscoobydoo.

http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showth ... ht=mirrors

guy puts heaters in his impreza mirrors in that post

short version below

To get the glass out of the mirror holder, Subaru says that you need to heat the glass untill the black surrounding is soft, approximately 2-4 minutes. Heat the glass and the surrounding directly for 3 minutes at least! The drivers side mirror will begin to stink when it is almost done, the passenger side will not (On Mine).

Once you can move the black surrounding with your fingers, and the glass is way too hot to touch, grab two thin objects. I used 2 butter knives. Place them as shown in the picture, and gently pry the mirror glass out. Apply slow, but firm pressure and the mirror will unstick itself and come out like a peice of taffy.

OK, the mirrorsare in, but I have not changed out the glass or finished the two wired to make it fold. ( Due to time constraints) More to come later.

For all your positioning problems that I've experienced with Civic and 240SX mirrors. The Civic mirrors I really couldn't do anything about, but for my 240 mirrors...

If the mirror is removeable from the base (unbolt the mirror where it folds), you can re-use your USDM mirrors and bolt them to the JDM bases. Of course, that's only if the folding motor is inside of the base. That's what I did for my 240 and it was GOLDEN!!!!!!!!!
