Torque Specs

Post by georryan »

Does anyone know the torque specs of the nut that goes on the end of the half axle? Is it 150, 175?

Also the the two bolts that go into the strut just above the brake assembly but below the springs, does anyone know the torque specs on those? I need a response real quick if anyone knows them off hand. THanks.

My Haynes manual says 123 to 151. Also don't forget to peen the nut into the little groove on the axle threads. Just take a chisel and hammer it down in there. This locks the nut in place.

If you took off those strut-to-knuckle bolts without marking them, then you had better drive to an alignment shop FAST!!! The top bolt adjusts the camber for the front wheels. It is very important that if you take that top nut off, that you mark its relation to the strut.

If you don't have it aligned immediately, you will chew up your tires very quickly!!

So those two bolts ont he bottom ofthe strut are for the alignment? Shucks. I don't see how it changes the angle of the wheel, it looks to me that it would if you took the bolts off nad put htem back on that it would be the same, oh well, I'll have to get it aligned then.
