EJ22T Longblock

Post by 1-3-2-4 »

About how much should they go for?

From what it seems I will have more Luck winning Powerball then finding one at a decent price.. they all seem to be $700+

What I find odd is they say the Japanse was it EJ22E? is ALOT cheaper then the EJ22T block and A crap load more were made, then what seems to be only 1 EJ22T block for the whole world to use.

The EJ22E is an NA block. The EJ22T is the only Subaru 2.2 turbo engine ever produced by FHI, except the EJ22G (22b motor), which is even rarer then the EJ22T. The EJ22T was only released in the USDM market.

The reason they can be so expensive is that a lot of subie tuners like to use the EJ22T short block, which has put them in high demand. That and FHI stopped making them and a EJ22T shortblock from a subie dealer is like $1400!

Keep looking. You should be able to find one for around $400-$500 around here.

It might be cheaper finding a trashed parts car. I bought a low mileage engine for 50% more than a whole parts car + transport.

I don't have room for a parts car :-/

I just really have enough room to do my own swap.. Street parking is not fun.

honestly, 1400 doesn't seem all that bad (brand new/rebuilt) but that's just me.

Save your pennies and get an engine that nobody else could've beat up, and build it up before you swap it. Might be time consuming, but you'll love it when you're done, and it'll last forever.

All I can say is www.car-part.com I found mine for $250 and it was 15 miles away. Right now they are as low as $500 on there, but it is constantly changing. I'd avoid ebay for this engine, as they seem to go for too much money on there.

I got one of them from Frank (BlackBart). I paid a good penny for it, but it was shipped and in known working condition.

Kind of pricey, but neither of us really knew what to expect. Plus, it was a complete shortblock, not just the two block halves.

PM him, he's probably got a few.
