I am curiuos about the O2 sensor operation. My 92 legacy non turbo O2 sensor operates as follows; when idling the sensor voltage seems to toggle between extremes .8 or .1 volts 95% of the time, and staying at the extremes for about 1 to 2 seconds. It is my understanding that the ECU should be trying to stablize the a/f ratio to get a voltage of .450 at the O2 sensor. I have a bosch sensor purchased from autozone, could this be just the way the sensor is made to operate or do I have a problem some where. The symptons are slightly rough Idle in park and bad fuel mileage for a non turbo no mod engine. I have did all the tune up requirement and even some that where not required, air filter, spark plugs, plug wires, oil, fuel filter, injectors, clean MAF sensor(removed feather from screen and cleaned with brake cleaner, this helped a lot, voltage is right around 1 volt at Idle), and a O2 sensor. Anybody have any input?
O2 sensor correct operation?

Re: O2 sensor correct operation?
a "bouncy" reading is normal, it's when the sensor isn't showing a varied output that you've got a problem.

Hey thanks for the input, It is my understanding that it should give a bouncy reading but should it bounce to the extremes like it does. For some reason I thought it should be boucing in between .6 and .3, I could have got the wrong info though! Maybe the rough Idle is due to something else than huh?
