Help I can't get my brake pads off :(

Post by *Jonathan »

So I'm attempting to change my brake pads and rotors on all 4 corners of my 94 legacy wagon but on the first wheel (right, rear) I cant get the brake pads to slide out. I removed the bolt to swing the caliper up and the pads are exposed but they wont side out :( What do I do?

Did you take out the little metal clips that hold them in there?

Hmm no I didnt take anything else off or out.. I just took a look and didnt see any clips that looked removable without taking the pad off first.

Ya you cant take out the anti rattle clips until the pads are out.

Do they move at all? Can you wiggle them?

If you're gonna pry them, make sure you dont scratch the rotors

If your replacing the rotors, pry them out of there.

Spray some PB Blaster or something, just to losen things up. Since they are junk, just do it.

Be mindful of the emergency brake shoes though. You aren't replacing those, so you need to watch out.

Thanks so much guys. I just too a screwdriver and yanked them out. I replace the rotors and pads so I wasnt concerned about the rotors. Ahh job well done.... feels good to save money and know they were done right :)
