Cross country motorcycle trip

Post by Binford »

I'm planning on taking a road trip on my bike down to Arizona, the long way! I want to ride over to Portland, Oregon, to Tillamook, and jump on 101 to Leggett, Ca. From there, Hwy 1 to San Fran...........And I'm not sure from there, to end up in Cottonwood, Az. for awhile. Then head back home the shortest path possible. This equals about 5000 miles.......in two weeks!

Couple questions......
1. Anyone here ever done anything like this?
2. What's the weather like over in Oregon in early may? or early June?
3.Anyone want to join me?

Look up the local LC crew in Portland! Someone can host you for sure!

There is myself, Ralliteck/Kelly, Brando (personal friends) and then at least 2-3 others.
Reddevil, Awaiting new heart, will it ever happen?

Sweet!
5000 miles is pretty ambitious, but it sounds fun.
The longest trip I've taken was a couple of years ago from Myrtle Beach SC on a roundabout trip - 1300miles only - after driving a moving truck there (with the bike in it to get back) for a friend.
The trip was great. The visibility and closeness to the surroundings make it an experience. I did wish for two things after a few hundred miles though: A windshield and more places to place my feet. (The bike is a 1969 Honda CL350.)
The western part of the US would offer far better scenery. I'm totally envious.
