'91 turbo legacy sedan a/t maroon???

i might have the chance to buy this car for 3k. is there another subie for this price range that would be a better buy performance wise?

one with a 5sp. one with a few mods. other than that, no not really.

i would like to mod it to 200hp then save my money and buy a 91 sti eng and put in it and maybe mod it to 290hp+. will the a/t accept that much power?

no sti in 91 anywhere. 200hp should be doable with the stock motor. TBE, intercooler, boost. 290hp maybe a hybrid motor, or a JDM wrx, liberty RS or legacy RS motor aka ej20g.
generally the AT is stronger but requires a lot more HP to turn it and might not be as reliable in the long run especially if you are beating on it. also just physically heavier by quite a bit.

A dealer in Northampton, PA has a maroon '93 turbo A/T 120K miles looks very good asking $3500
