evidentally my car doesn't have the provisions to mount a swaybar. it doesn't seem to have the mounting points for either the endlinks to the control arms or the frame mount bushings (or whatever you call them) what gives? i thought the awd legacys had rear sways from the factory?
do the 1st gen legacy swaybars attach to the spindle? should i pick up some control arms off a turbo leg? would gc components work?
no rear swaybar for me?

'93 Legacy L Sedan AWD - RIP Kella, July 11, 2008
Some of the 92-94's did not get the rear anti-sway bars.
However the holes are there in the chassis. All you need are the mounts, swaybar, endlinks, and lateral links.

i stuck this over on your question on sli, but ill put it here too for posterity
90-91 legacies have a bar, as do all ls, lsi, and turbo models. the 90-92 (maybe only 90-91) cars have different lateral links and droplinks rather than endlinks as the later cars (incl. wrx) have. I have a picture, but my photo gallery is down. I like the droplinks more, myself, as you can adjust the bar's preload and stiffness with washers, and they're already metal.
Anyway, you can take lateral links and chassis mounts off of any gc or bd (and associated models) and bolt them up to your car. You can use the swaybar off the gc, but you'll need to sawzall or bend a piece of metal out of the way. Really, it's not that important since the 1g legacy 16mm bar is better than any commonly available gc bar. Oh, that bit about bending crap is also true about every bd bar, save the 18mm outback one, which is identical to the turbo bar.
Another alternative is to get the chassis mounts, and there are endlinks available in the aftermarket (for ~150$ iirc) that mount to your hubs and are adjustable for preload. This might be the easier way to go since lateral links can be pricey at a JY and you won't have to get your toe realigned after installation.

yeah, plus you have better endlinks with the last deal he mentioned.
My 93L also didn't come with a swaybar, so I swapped lateral links from a 99 Impreza, an 18mm bar from a 94 SS, and the mounts from a WRX. It cost me a bit over $100. The swaybar was $50 shipped, the lateral links were $45, and the brackets were something like $15, all bought in the classfieds here and on nasioc. I saw Blackbart was selling some swaybars recently. Also an online j/y request would probably find you some stuff.
I had to cut the cammed bolt for toe off on the left rear because it wouldn't come out of the bushing.
Fortunately my friend's dad was in town and happed to have a sawzall for some work he helped us do around the house.

Here's a pic of a '91 rear set up. I can't ID anything chassis related here..but the Sway Bar mounts are sort of visible.
