Well, I can see getting in trouble for PCV breathers, not because they're "terrible on the environment" but because they're dangerous. PCV valves release crankcase ventilations, which have a lot of CO (carbon monoxide) in them and can cause sleepiness at the wheel (I've seen this happen before, yes, it's feasible).

However, the rest of it is bullsh*t! A blue hose, omgzorz! It must be teh polluting! And the timing thing? abuhhhhh....how is the timing belt exposed? (correct me if I'm wrong, maybe it's different on those older civics) That looked more like a crank pulley to me :?

Overly loud exhaust is a punishable offense, I'm fine with that, we have an asshole with a Harley Davidson that's running open manifold, and whenever it goes by us, the whole house shakes, and I can hear it (inside the damn house) until it gets to the intersection a mile away. That's noise pollution! But just looking at a "large tip" and calling it illegal is stupid. That cop was so full of himself. ugh.

I like Wisconsin, we don't have inspections

I love Oregon! I drove into DEQ with the full supercharger setup installed. All obviously "modification". Hell, I even had the hole in the hood to the intake could stick through!

Instead of denying or harassing me, the tech called people over to check it out.

I can't believe that all that stuff is actually illegal... adjustable cam gears are illegal now? Why? A non-stock air intake is illegal? Why? It makes no sense. If they want to void your warranty over it, fine, I understand. But if it doesn't affect emissions and doesn't make your car louder than the legal limit, why should they care?

It's one thing if they actually catch you street racing, but it's entirely different when you're not doing anything.

yeah....because you have decals, you're a street racer

Even if it says "racing" in it, that doesn't mean you race. It means whatever product you're repping was developed by racing technology.

Some of it I can understand... decals that obstruct the view, exhaust that's too loud or too polluting, anything like that I wouldn't argue with.

Yeah, I think we all agree that's bullshit.

I say, as long as it passes emissions and I wasn't caught street racing, I should be able to do whatever the damn well I please. It's my car, dammit! So what if the car's too low? If I wanna scrape up my undercarriage, that's my business. So what if it makes a little extra noise? Turning your sirens on to pull me over made a hell of a lot more noise than my car can make!

Someone should do a propane based or electric based "street" racer. See what kind of violations the cops can come up with!

The older the vehicle, the more chance you would be found to be illegal. and the cheaper the mod, the more chance as well.

You could be driving a Porche with a major modification beyond believe, and I doubt you would be EVER, EVER, EVER found to be illegally modified because it would look so freaking stock. OK, I am assuming this is a new exspensive Porshe, not a 1972 rusted out 914.

Hahaha, that sucks.

So an MSD ignition is illegal? I guess they don't want you to burn all your fuel, out there in Cali! That's a mod that would probably actually HELP the enviroment!

Well ain't that a sock full of shit?

Just because I mod, doesn't mean I street race.

I love California. My car would be hideously illegal, and not only can they NOT give me a ticket for it, if they wanted too, it wouldn't stick because traffic tickets in Cali don't transfer out of the state.

I gotta get some track stickers. Then I can say, "see the stickers, I keeps it on the track."

At least an intake isn't a primary offense. Keep your front license plate on, and your driving in check, and you stand a better chance of not getting it up the poop-hole by the man.

Actually, pretty much every ignition MSD markets for street cars has an executive order number from the California Air Resources Board. George Lane doesn't know what he's talking about. Comforting.

At least when they give you a ticket for it you can then pull that out and wave it in their face, and make them look dumb again.
