Variable Nozzle Turbos?

Post by free5ty1e »

Hey hey...

Whilst perusing the web, I found some material on VNTs; very interesting stuff. Complicated and prone to reliability issues if not constructed with the correct materials, but in theory... this is the ultimate setup.

I think Garrett makes a few VNTs, I'm looking more into it. More than anything else, I just want more information on how this system works. I've read a few descriptions of the variable nozzle technology but I'd like to see an animation, or some internal photos. Anyone ever seen a VNT?

Here's one in a turbo diesel with a brief description:

Cool, thanks -- that's what I was looking for. That helps so freaking much in the understanding of how the VNT concept works.

Very interesting, indeed.
