Doing a leakdown, can't see the damn mark on the Pully!

Post by my3awds »

I wanted to do a leakdown before I went to sleep on this sohc 2.2t but I can't see the mark on the pully due to all this corrossion on it. Is there any other way I can tell a piston is at TDC?? I can't do it like I use to on a dsm, where I just stick a long screwdriver down the sparkplug well, since these have angled plugs. Am I going to have to buy a new balancer pully?

Can you use one of those flexible pick-up tools that have the claw on the end that works by a plunger on top down the hole? Even if it's not perfect, you would at least know when it's close & that might help zero in on where the mark ought to be.
