Without cam gears and sprockets, What you see is what you get. I never got the gears when I bought the heads, I was going to use them for a high output n/a project, but I'm getting married in October and well as most of you know, weddings are expensive, and so are buildups, so......
just curious how much does a good port a polish job run?

someone messed up when they re-assembled the heads, or at least the left side one. the camshaft caps are wrong. if thats the case, you'll probly have to remeasure the valve clearance.

They might not be securely mounted anyway. Don't the cams need to be removed in order to tighten the head bolts for the DOHC heads?
Could just be like that so things don't get lost?
I see what you are saying though, with the "I" marked on the bottom, exhaust cam, and the "E" marked on the top, intake cam. But if you look at the cam under the "I" caps, it clearly is an Intake cam (L4IN).
Could be matched, but was put in backwards? Doubtful. An exhaust port looks nothing like an intake port. Should have been checked.
Either way, the heads will need to be checked for oil clearance before the cams are secured and the covers put on.
They are ok, you need to remove the cams to put the head on the block, and when the caps were put back on they were put on the wrong way, they are only just threaded on so I will switch them before sending them out to avoid confusion.
Furthermore, unless the buckets were mixed up when the heads were apart, the valve lash shouldn't have changed with the PnP. If lash was good before the work, it should still be good. Of course, whoever buys them should still measure them...

There's no way to accurately adjust the valves without mounting them to the block. And even if you did, it would change slightly when they were mounting on the block that the person buying the heads uses.
Did you recieve the intercooler pipe?
