I think you should definitely buy it back. Even after buying it back you'll have money left over. You may well be able to buy the car back for only a little more than the value of that young EJ22T.

She was found at fault, right?
My insurance guy says it will most likely be 100% her fault based on the fact that she wasn't paying attention and pulled out right in front of me. If not it will be something like 90% her and 10% me for not maintaining control of my vehicle but that's rubbish because the control of the vehicle issue deals with before she pulled out in front of me. At the scene the officer said that he thought I must have been moving because of the black marks but I told him that: A. My car weighs like 3400 lbs and B. I didn't even have time to hit my brakes I just veered (and that lady should be DAMN happy I did)

I also wonder about the rust issues with my '91. Maybe I'd be better off getting a newer, lighter leggy and sticking my engine in it. I don't know yet.

Hmm, the damage doesn't look that bad to me. Most of it is in replaceable parts. Doors, front fenders and such. The only real damage that would worry me is the rear quarter panel. The suspension could be fixed.

I would definitely buy it back. You could fix it into a mean ass Rally-X car if nothing else. Then you wouldn't need to fix the rear quarter panel and R title wouldn't matter. ;)

It sucks because if the car was "new", they'd definitely fix it and not total the car.

They want $100.00 to buy it back so I'm probably going to do that and then see what happens.

A hundred bucks?! Definitely buy it back. There's way more than a hundred bucks' worth of good parts on the car.

So I'm curios if anyone knows what models of Subaru my ej22t will mate up with so I know what to look for. Matt said somethinga about Imprezzas and to look out for OBDII. Help.

Ok, so I bought the car back and I'm going through a list of things I'm going to swap over or am considering swapping over.

Engine - 90k (might sell this if things get tough)
Calipers - All four
Control arms
Strut towers
Carpet and seats
Turbocharger

That's the small list. I don't know what I'll wind up with but I'll probably have a 4eat tranny, crossmember, ECU, ej22t (170k), Deck lid and other various parts to sell out. I'll post when it's all gutted.

The EJ22T will bolt into any chassis that originally came with an EJ series engine. It will also mate up to any transmission that was originally mated to an EJ series motor.

Whew, talk about a learning experience. I started working on my car yesterday and had a pretty good time with it. I swapped over all four interior door panels, rear seat and speakers. The black interior looks awesome in the black car. Today I tackle the front seats, rugs and struts and maybe the trim and dash pieces. It'll look cool as hell when it's done. I finally learned how to get those dame little plastic body snap thingys out without breaking them, easy as pie. I also pulled out the ailing antennae and swapped the other one in, easy. When I did that I noticed that someone had added all this messed up wiring. I'm assuming they did that to use it as a cell phone booster antennae.

While I was gutting my silver car I finally realized it was dead. I noticed that the frame had actually gotten twisted in the wreck. I was pulling out the speakers in the rear when I saw that the left side was about an inch higher than the right and the metal up where the speakers mount was crumpled. I was a bit surprised. I didn't think I hit with that much force.

So all I have left is trim, dash, struts, engine, and whatver I'm pulling to sell.

Yeah it feels good, Vikash. I'm just at a point when I decided to stop worrying and do something. It's amazing how fast you can move when you have a plan. :) You should have seen the condition the interior was in with my black car. It feels good to get that ratty stuff out of there. It's also cool to have functioning speakers in my car.

I'm looking forward to the engine swap especially. It'll be great to finally swap out the bunged up wiring harness. Maybe Majen will finally be ship shape when I'm done. Then, once the minor body issues are rubbed out I'll be complete.

On a personal note. It's been a sweet couple of days. Matt came over with his bass and he, my bud Ambrose and I rocked out until midnight. That was a very good and uplifting experience. I really enjoy rocking out with Matt, he's a very intuitive bassist. I just wish we could be in a complete unit together. The three of us gelled pretty well and I KNOW we could have an awesome band with the right keyboard player. I can do keys well but I'd rather drum. Hell, now that I was given a Mandolin maybe the three of us will start a Bluegrass band.

So today I pulled the struts, MAF sensor, exhaust and found out that up to three of my tires may still be good. That's good news but it also means that I may stick with my 15" wheels. Tomorrow I'm going to complete the dash transplant and getting ready to pull the engine.
