outback struts for towing or loaded wagon?

Post by isotopeman »

I've found that the tires installed by a local Sears were not the right size. I've been driving it anyway, but with 5 to 7 people in the car going to the drive-in (pay by carload, not person), the rear tires rub on the conical parts at the top of the strut (what are those called?). I have read that the Outback struts will lift it slightly. Will this remedy the rubbing problem to a degree? How will it work for towing a trailer or with the car loaded down with canoes, bikes, coolers, etc.? I intend to drive these tires out before replacing them with smaller ones (195/60/15). Are all struts for Outbacks the same?
Thanks
