is that too much tire for a WRX rim? I would think it is pushing it. will it fit a wagon at stock height ok? the inner fender edges will be getting rolled. Ive got the opportunity to pick up a set of michelin pilot sports in that size for a VERY cheap price.

My 205/55/16's are tight fit, I usually use 205/50's but I got screwed on price and availibility of winter tires. I'm using 16x7.5" wheels though. A 225 would definately be too wide for the WRX wheels. I tried 225's a few years ago and they were fine in the front, but in the rear, even with the fender lip rolled up, the tread square hit the fender.

Odd, 205/55 fit with PLENTY of room to spare in my car. Even 225/45/17's fit without MUCH issue.
A 225/55 will be to big to fit. A 225/50 should work though. Tons of people do that on the stock wheels. It's the same diameter as stock, but wider and it's really not that bad to drive.
I have 225/55's on my Forester. They won't really fit on my Legacy.

No, they run that size on a WRX. I don't know that it'll work on a Legacy.
If they are cheap enough, try them for us all!

Running 205/55/16s on first gen Forester wheels (16 X 6.5).
The only rubbing occured with a full load of camping gear, two mtn bikes on the trailer-hitch rack and a 95-lb vintage wood canvas canoe on top.
And only on the tightest and convoluted roads on the Olympic Penninsula last summer.
