Bluetooth?

Post by BAC5.2 »

Anyone use bluetooth?

I have a Motorola E815, and I've been wanting to use bluetooth for quite some time, but I have no idea as to which headset to get?

Anyone have a good bit of experience with them and have any information about particular models?

I was thinking about going with the Plantronics M3000.

I've got a BT headset and a razor phone, but I haven't used the headset yet. It's kind of a pain, you have to navigate through several menus to make the headset connect to the phone, which sucks when you're driving.

Once it is on and connnected, it works well.

Aren't they supposed to only require that process the very first time they're used? I thought after that they were supposed to automatically connect whenever the phone and headset were in range of each other.

That's how my parents' Prius works; the car basically appears to the phone as a giant headset. When my dad turns the car on with his E815 in his pocket the two connect in a matter of seconds. The very first time, though, we had to introduce them to each other.

I think it depends on how you set it up. You can set it up to ask every time, or you can set it up to auto connect.

I looked at getting the RAZR, but I like the UI of the E815, and the 40mb internal memory is kinda cool. Plus, I have a 1gb memory card for it. 4 family guy episodes, 65MP3's, 2 dozen pictures, and and I've got 750mb left to fill.

Which headset do you have Sam? I gotta take this phone back to Verizon today for a charging problem, so I'll try on some headsets today.

I have the wired headset, but it sucks being tethered to the phone.

I want to find a hack so that music may be listened to through bluetooth.

I'm also in the market for a headset, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

I bought a bluetooth adapter for my laptop, so Im able to transfer pics and video from my phone to the comp, and music/pics to the phone. works nice, it was like $20 from Walmart (so if your comp does have BT, its a nice buy)

Yes and no. This RAZR doesn't auto discover.

More like
first time used: navigate through 10 button presses
every time after: navigate through 5 button presses

Wow, that's dumb. It defeats the whole point of Bluetooth's pairing system!

When I ordered my ROKR I got a free Scala-500 bluetooth headset. After a couple of months of use I'm not a big fan. There is always some static and it dosen't fit quite right on my ear. It does connect with the phone whenever it's turned on which in nice.

I got a Nokia at CompUSA two weeks ago for $20. I have only used it a few times, but it's pretty cool.

BT is nice, but it's all in the implementation. If you leave BT on all the time, then your headset should, after the initial pairing, connect right up. That's how it works between my Nokia and T-Mo SDA. Having BT on all the time naturally uses extra battery, so that's why most people don't leave it on if they know better.

It's a shame that BT isn't integrated into XP at all, but works flawlessly on Apple products. I'd much rather use my USB BT adapter on my PC with Activesync for my SDA than the USB cable. Getting BT working in XP has, to this point, been a losing battle on more than one occasion.

Bluetooth can suck it as far as I'm concerned. I've never been able to get my Treo 650 to sync properly over Bluetooth with my ThinkPad T43p. It does just fine with the cable, though.

My Toshiba laptop is supposed to be Bluetooth enabled, but it's missing a system file that prevents the bluetooth system from turning on.

I got my phone replaced again today, and the Verizon guy was really happy with the Moto BT model 815, and to a slightly lesser extent the 850. He preferred the 815 because it didn't have the USB2 charging port, so he could use the same charger as his phone.

I'll keep on the lookout and see if I can get some reviews. I'll probably scan the e-bay and see if I can find something for a good deal.

Well, that's two more people that can't get BT working right on PCs. It's lame that we have to wait for Vista to have a fighting chance...

I'm probably gonna ruffle some feathers here, but I think people look really stupid with Bluetooth headsets and even the plug-in headsets.

Not that I'm against technology, I'm just as much an electronic junkie as the next guy. It just seems to me though that those people are wearing that stuff as a fashion "look-at-me-I'm-important" statement.

I got one for use when I know I'm going to get a call, and don't want to have the phone on my ear or a speakerphone. The price was also really good.

I wouldn't be seen in public with one of those things stuck in my ear, walking around, talking to no one. I'm with you on the people looking stupid thing :)

People definately look stupid with them.

But the fact of the matter is, that in the district of columbia, it's illegal to talk into a handset while driving. I am in DC more times than I'm not, and the wired headsets suck.

I'm willing to look stupid before I'll get slapped with a 60 ticket.

I don't have a headset, need to get one though. Plus a good intergration system for the car. I was going to get the parrot one for the Jag, but the diplay only comes in blue and the Jag's ilumination is green. I don't want anything looking non-factory in that car.

I have the E815 that I seem edited to make it an E815M. Works awesome, OBEX works on it (though it's slow). Getting photos off it is easy, I use the cable to put music on it though as its much faster. I've got a 512 trans flash card and use it as an MP3 player too.

Anyone have some feedback on car intergration kits? Especialy ones that work with factory phone cars?

What's the M? Is that the ALLTEL flash?

I need to do the seem edit to enable moving files (from TF to phone), and I want to find a way to edit the seem to allow bluetooth to listen to MP3's.

I'm new to "modding" so to speak, so I'm still reading up and learning. What's the OBEX mod? I have no desire to use my phone to browse the internet, though I may set up my own proxy server so that I can check my e-mail from the phone without paying Verizon $.015 for every kb of data.

I also need to get a 2.5->3.5 adapter so I can plug the phone into a tape adapter and use it as an MP3 player in the Legacy. Lots of people seem to have great luck doing that.
