i was driving with my dog, and look back and his head is out the window, and his feet are reaching for the floor in the rear of my car (i had the back seat bottom cushion removed) Then he started wiggling his back and body, still with head out the window in a wierd position. Guess he found the power window switch with his front foot, and almost got strangled. I quickly lowered the window from the driver control, and hit the disable switch. Crap, anybody else had this happen.
He is okay. out of all the cars, this has never happened til today.
good grief.

This has happened on a few occasiions to me! Now whenever we go anywhere I have to make sure that disable button in on. It's kinda scary when your driving down the highway and this type of thing happens. Hey at least they don't come up as fast and as hard as most Ford power windows I've seen. Just ask my wife about her fingers that got caught when I rolled up the passenger window in my moms old 95 Mercury Cougar XJ!

Solution: Do not let your dog ride with head out window.

That's why all power window switches were redesigned in the mid-late 90's for all cars, so that kids not dogs wouldn't get themselves caught in the window when leaning on the controls. Believe most cars now have a hooked style button which much be lift up to raise the window.
There's also design limits on the size of motor that can be used to prevent injury, of course Ford always tends to change/exceed these limits and install bigger motors when the weather stripping prevents the window from moving smoothly/quickly. You'd be surprised how many 1000's of complaints per year they recieve regarding slow window operation.
